Huawei overtakes Samsung as world’s biggest smartphone vendor, says report – US Ban is only hurting End Consumers

For the first time ever, Huawei has shipped more smartphones worldwide over a quarter than any other company, according to a new report from analyst firm Canalys. Huawei has long harbored ambitions to overtake Samsung as the world’s biggest smartphone seller, and going by the numbers from Canalys, that’s just what happened during the April-June period this year.

So end consumers are either having to make do without the Google Play Store (like my daughter has) or many have also applied the various hacks to get the Google Play Store installed themselves. The US ban has not really hurt Huawei (as far as sales figures go) but has inconvenienced consumers. That’s the problem with trade tariffs and bans, they often hurt your own consumers.
