Is it time to upgrade from the Pixel 2 XL to the Pixel 4 XL – Not for me, it isn’t!

Maybe I just feel very burnt still with my Google Nexus 6P phone’s battery packing up after 12 months, and me replacing it because at the time Google and Huawei denied any fault. I’ll try not to mention Google+ then being shut down which I used very intensively…

But more seriously comparing the real differences here just does not justify me replacing my Pixel 2 XL which is still working perfectly well and taking great photos. Yes the Pixel 4 XL has a slightly better screen, a little more RAM, face unlock (fingerprint unlock is working just great for me), I suspect screen sharpness will be a bit better on scrolling but I wonder if the battery life will be better.

Personally, I’m going to pass on this upgrade and I’ll give more serious attention to the Pixel 5 but I will also compare it to other Android phones which get same-day OS updates. The more one pays for a high-end phone te longer one wants to sweat it out a bit further too.

Google has managed to do keep the design language consistent across the Pixel line, and you can see the evolution of the design from the Pixel 2 XL to the Pixel 4 XL. That said, there are welcome upgrades under the hood.
