These are some excellent tips and I have not seen the first one before about how to determine hair growth direction. It’s true though that you ‘could’ just shave with a safety razor and not use the brush technique and this will be as quick as a cartridge razor, and the opposite is also true that you could use a cartridge razor with a good brush and lather routine which takes a bit longer, but the whole point of traditional wet shaving is to get the best possible shave for your skin (and the environment).
