YouTube can now make money off your videos even if you can’t… Alternatives such LBRY do exist but the viewers are fewer

I make a point of not having adverts included on my YouTube videos as I am hosting them at no cost to myself, and of course the discoverability and number of users on YouTube are second to none. So this is rather irritating that Google can just decide to put adverts in my videos… but then again that is something that Google users must actually expect to happen.

There are great alternatives such as LBRY (and others) which pay you even better than YouTube but the challenge really is viewership is a lot less as are some restrictions in duration to 60 minutes I think.

As I’ve said before there are real costs to any entity hosting a video publishing platform so someone does have to pay for it either through paid subscriptions or adverts (just never selling of viewer data or behaviour). So you get what you choose/use.
