The best-selling smartphone in South Africa you’ve never heard of – for R400 (US $28)

Mobile technology company Mint Connect said its low-cost device, the Mint Fox, was the best-selling smartphone in South Africa for seven months in a row. The company said it sold between 500,000 to 600,000 units of the Mint Fox between April 2016 and August 2017.

The Mint Fox is available from MTN and through several retail channel partners – including Ackermans, JET, Edgars, OK Furniture, and Dunns. It currently sells for R400, which includes 100MB of free data per month for six months.

Yes with 512MB RAM it's going to be slow but for R400 (about US $28) it is actually a real bargain for low-end users who get to use most smartphone apps available.
