Join SA's Mega Hackathon Challenge to create innovative and functioning solutions that aim to solve the socio-economic challenges as defined in the NDP2030
The South African government is hosting a Mega Hackathon challenge which is open to all South Africans from different backgrounds and disciplines to create innovative and functioning solutions that aim to solve the socio-economic challenges as defined in the NDP2030.
Participants will be required to identify current and pressing socio-economic challenges within South Africa and create proposals indicating the problem statement and the proposed business solution. The solutions to be hacked will be within the scope of the 15 chapters of the NDP 2030. Participants will be provided with the necessary documentation to allow them to identify changes and develop proposals. Participants will be required to work in teams of a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 5 members.
The National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 is a long-term South African development plan, developed by the National Planning Commission (NPC) in collaboration and consultation with South Africans from all walks of life.
The plan aims to eliminate poverty and unemployment and reduce inequality by 2030. It also states that South Africa can realise these goals by drawing on the energies of its people, growing an inclusive economy, building capabilities, enhancing the capacity of the state, and promoting leadership and partnerships throughout society. The plan sets targets and identifies mechanisms for effective implementation in key areas clustered into 15 chapters. In order to ensure achievement of the NDP 2030 vision, Government and its entities have developed five-year Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF) and Annual Performance Plans (APP)annually, aligned to the NDP 2030 vision. The progress on implementation is monitored by the Department of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME).
