Google+ Alternatives – an interesting case made for the use of Hubzilla Channels to replace Collections
Channels (forums/feeds) on Hubziilla are quite powerful and most people just use a single one as their default feed. But you can create multiple ones with each one being a different theme/topic like G+ Collections.

Also, very interesting point mentioned in the comments that another new social network called Osada was created by the developer of Hubzilla and it is a slightly simpler trimmed down version of Hubzilla (why? because Hubzilla is really packed with features, apps and add-ons).
Osada is open source and federated (but apparently excludes Diaspora/Pluspora which si very sad). Osada has native support for the ActivityPub protocol (W3C standard) as well as the more advanced but lesser known Zot6 protocol. It can inter-operate with other social networking applications and projects in either of these spaces, including Mastodon, Pleroma, Pixelfed, PeerTube, Funkwhale, Zap, Friendica, Hubzilla, and many more.
