Accounting software is a necessity when it comes to managing billings, debts, stocks, invoices and any other kind of financial transactions. You might require something for your personal finances or perhaps for enterprise-focused accounting software. No matter what, it is important to consider open source solutions available (especially being Linux enthusiasts).
Something that narrowed my own options a few years ago was I needed to import my MS Money data as it was one of the very few apps that then I could not run on Linux when I migrated from Windows. I had considered GNUcash but it was discarded either because of the import that was lacking or the double-entry system, but I ended up with a paid version of MoneyDance which I have been happy with (not open source though). Many of the options listed will run across Windows, macOS and Linux which is useful if you intend to migrate later to Linux. Skrooge was not an option back then for me but I see it does import MS Money files and looks quite good.
