Mobvoi’s new TicWatch GTX smartwatch offers fitness tracking, 10-day battery life for $60 but NO Google Wear – Used to be 2-day battery life with Google Wear

Two things to always be careful of with smart watches is the battery life and the straps. I made the major mistake of buying a LG watch with GPS and WiFi antennas in the strap and then also finding it would not take standard replacement straps… Battery life also degrades after a few short years…

A 10-day battery life is really quite reasonable and usable. I’ve been very happy with my Mobvoi TicWatch Pro and although it has a 30-day battery save mode, the smart stuff only lasts two days which is a bit short (better than one day that some watches have!).

But no Google Wear means my shopping list app won’t work (nor other Android apps) and that is one thing I use my watch for a lot (apart from controlling media playback and notifications). If this gets a decent shopping list app I’m sold. Goes to show though that Google Wear is a battery hog (as Samsung also showed with their watch OS).
