Birdtray is an application that allows users to keep the Thunderbird email program running in the system tray so that it is always accessible, and out of the way. It can also provide on-screen alerts for new messages.
If you click on Birdtray icon, it can hide the Thunderbird window, and restore it. It launch Thunderbird when Birdtray starts, and terminate it when Birdtray quits (configurable), and wil monitor that Thunderbird is running, and indicate it if you accidentally closed it.
