DemocracyOS – an open source platform for deliberation and voting on political proposals
The software aims to stimulate better arguments and come to better rulings. It is used by the Net political party in Argentina but could be used by any party or even any organisation who wants to engage with its stakeholders.
It's a novel idea for democracy…. giving the voters a voice in what happens instead of letting politicians just decide behind closed door what they think is best for others. Many would say that voters are not really qualified to decide major issues such as whether an oil company gets a license to frack in their area, but that said, are politicians any better qualified to decide? I'd venture to say theer are many better qualified voters (eg. engineers) than politicians, and afterall if voters are intelleigent enough to vote a politician into office they can't be so cluselss?
