The Brandmeister DMR contact database is growing at a rapid rate and some older radios cannot store the full database, and even if your radio can, there are often newer stations coming on the air which are not in the version of the database you maybe last updated only two or more months back. By enabling the talker alias (disabled by default) your radio should be able to display some basic alias information much like D-STAR does.
The video explains quite well how to enable receiving the talker alias if no contact ID is found in the phone’s database. The link following the video shows more detail on the radio ID versus radio ID name that should be set on your own radio for transmission with the signal. Basically you leave the radio ID (or just ID as the menu shows) with the required Brandmeister ID, but you can modify the radio ID name (or just Name as the menu shows) to expand your call sign to include a name and location up to 26 characters.
