Facebook obtained a patent to passively use your phone’s camera to spy on your emotions
From June 2017: "A document has emerged which could have rather terrifying implications on privacy. A patent filed by Facebook outlines technology it wants to introduce which would analyze your emotions. So, while you think you’re innocently scrolling, reading, searching and maybe doing a little “investigation” into ex’s new girlfriends, Facebook really is watching you. Footage would be collected through the device you’re using Facebook on; your phone or laptop for instance. Scarily, this uses cameras that aren’t turned on. Technology would interpret your emotions and then content filtered through that matches your mood."
It does show where Facebook has been systematically heading. No other social network has been heading this deep into privacy invasion. It's a good thing that Facebook has delayed the launch of their home smart speaker… I can only but suspect it was going to be listening to our conversations to better tailor the news feed? For me personally, Facebook has crossed the line too many times now, and the trust is just broken. I've seen the alternative networks, gaining a steady stream of new users daily, and I like the meaningful conversations taking place.
