Indiegogo: Video Review Showing Kingrow K1 E Ink Smartphone – 4 day battery life and good for eBook reading

The Kingrow K1 is a specialized Android-powered phone with a 5.2-inch E Ink screen. Unlike regular LCD phones, it’s easily readable outside in bright sunlight, and it doesn’t emit blue light, although it does have a front light. The software is based on Android 8.1 but it does not support Google apps, at least not without some hacking.

It is an Android phone, but not a high spec one, and it will take colour photos and videos but the screen is B&W and whilst it rates very well for E ink in terms of refresh rates it’s not going to compare to an OLED colour screen. Its niche though is a far longer battery life and of course advantages of E ink being able to display and be read in bright sunlight for long periods of time.  But the $299 price tag may not make it very attractive as a second phone.

Interesting though for avid ebook readers…
