New Huawei earbuds offer unique power combination – Phone will wirelessly charge the earbuds!
The new Huawei Freebuds 2 Pro will be wireless earbuds specifically designed to work well with the AI embedded in the Kirin 980 processor powering the Mate 20. Huawei did not stop there though, adding some unique twists to the earbuds – well, the case to be more specific.
Those who have used or looked at wireless earbuds that are truly wireless in that the earbuds connect wirelessly to each other and the source – no wire between them – know that a charging case is part of what you get when you buy some. The earbuds go in the case to get charged and the case usually connects to a power source using a USB cord. To stand out a bit, Huawei added in wireless charging capability to the case itself so that users can just set the case on a Qi-enabled charger to power up the case and in turn the earbuds.
Huawei did not stop there, adding wireless charging via a Qi charger. They also figured out they could use the Mate 20 as a charging device. This means the typical flow of energy into the back of the phone is reversed and charging can be delivered to another device so that the Mate 20 becomes a Qi charger. Thus, users can just set the Freebuds case on the back of the Mate 20 to charge it up.
