Octotel to double down on Cape Town fibre expansion – Just PLEASE not to where there is already fibre!
Fibre-to-the-home broadband provider Octotel said on Thursday that it is going to expand its infrastructure roll-out to reach more than 100 000 homes passed within a year. The company built about 700km of trenched fibre covering Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard, City Bowl, southern suburbs, Blouberg and northern suburbs in 2017.
Octotel has 35 Internet service providers offering access on its network. Speeds range from 10Mbit/s to 1Gbit/s.
I find it ludicrous that one suburb is getting its second fibre provider installing, whilst the adjacent "middle-class" suburb to this one has no fibre even planned on anyone's maps. This should not actually be allowed.
