While many smartphones are advertised as ‘water resistant’, this doesn’t mean they’re immune from water damage, and it usually just means they have more glue inside them. As a rule I treat all phones as not being water resistant which is why that is also not a criteria I use at all fore purchasing a new phone. You can probably also assume that most manufacturers are still not going to cover you for ‘liquid damage’. I’ve been collecting those silica gel packets over many years and have a whole jar filled up now.
See some info about OEMs getting out of warranty claims and what you should do at Phone wet and won’t turn on? Here’s what to do with water damage (hint: putting it in rice won’t work)
