Proton GE has a few bleeding edge enablements that Steam’s own Proton has not yet rolled out, so if you really want to play some of the high end Windows-only games, then Proton GE is the go-to compatibility layer to use.
Because it is based on Wine 6.5 there are some big changes under the hood that necessitate the deletion of the old Wine prefixes that are already setup for the games you are playing. If you were puzzled as to where and how to do that deletion, the linked article below (which also includes a video) will explain all that.
If you’ve wondered how to be able to play Red Dead Redemption II, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Grand Theft Auto V, War Thunder, and other Windows-only games, just try installing Proton GE under Steam Games on Linux.
