South Africa's Home affairs wants modernisation feedback – It's Easy, Just Finish the Roll Out of eHomeAffairs to Banks = No more Queues
What do people hate/ remember most about Home Affairs? Not the friendly staff (they are friendly actually) but rather the insanely long queues on any day of the week that stretch around to the nearest street corner. Average wait time seems to be about 4+ hours and you'd better hope you have not forgotten a document. So I aborted my process after paying R400 online so now I have no current passport.
Just roll out what was started a while back. The online system is good but Cape Town has only one bank providing this service and if you don't bank your salary at Standard Bank you can just stand outside and have a view of a Home Affairs desk with no queue (you book an appointment slot online).
So my appeal is please don't start anything new – just finish what was already started. And maybe make a new post on their Twitter account as the last one was in 2010.
