In this 5-minute video I explain how two different baud rates, two different COM ports, and using the APRS TNC instead of the package TNC can trip many up into not getting the connection to work properly.
The TNC setting is more specific to this Kenwood radio but the principles around the other two aspects may be relevant to other radios as well as other APRS software.
