This is a pretty high-end laptop running Pop!_OS and is open source all the way through. System76 is a Denver-based firm with a "by hackers, for hackers" ethos.
The only downside reportedly is the battery life which is a few hours and nowhere near what a Macbook gets (my Macbook Air used to get a good 10+ hours of usage).
