Something to always remember about “free” services – they are never free and someone is paying for them whether a ratepayer, another subscriber, etc. And even that “free” is not free, as the ratepayer’s money could have gone say towards housing, medical care, education, universities, etc.
Paying ISP subscribers also access most website on the Internet without paying to access them. The reason is because we see lots of adverts, and our browsing habits etc get sold in turn back to advertisers. You don’t get free access to websites without some cost somewhere. You can’t demand free access and freedom from adverts and expect the service to run on air. It costs money to run the hosting site, it costs money for the network connectivity, and it costs money to produce the content.
It’s just worth bearing in mind when end users demand free services….
