The theory is instead of buying a complete laser toner cartridge you just by this ‘syringe’ of toner and top up the toner tank in around 30 seconds. It does change the paradigm of laser printing somewhat in that the standard laser toner cartridge contains a lot of additional functionality that is renewed with it at a cost. So off the bat this new method would certainly be a lot cheaper to renew (R177 or US$12 per reload kit which yields about 2,500 pages) than buying a normal toner cartridge. Nothing of course stops you having a few spare toner cartridges on hand to anyway replenish your toner, but traditional toner cartridges do cost more, do take up more space to store, and are not as easily recycled as these new all-plastic ones.
One thing I don’t see any mention of though is are there other parts now that will wear out and need to be replaced i.e. are other costs increasing somewhere? There is normally the drum yes at some point for home use a laser printer probably lasts a good few years before anything like that must be replaced.
The key features include printing up to 5,000 pages right out-of-the-box. It has a duty cycle of 20,000 pages. The printers have options for mobile scanning, Wi-Fi Direct and printing with HP Smart App.
