A Linux Distro is merely a starting out point – You can tweak it to do anything after that

Any Linux distro is based on the Linux kernel and comes with different desktops and package managers but you can install and run any Linux app on any of them and tweak them to your liking. They come with a set of default applications but no matter what the distro you can install and run any Linux application on it.

What limits most people is not getting to know Linux well enough under the hood as it is all about the freedoms to customise the window manager and many other aspects of the UI and operating system (if you want to).
