Yes, iOS did finally get widgets, but you are still stuck with the grid layout of squarish icons. Android however allows 3rd party launchers which quickly and radically change the layout of the home page experience.
Best of all, it does not permanently lose anything. You can try out a launcher, and just switch back to the one you were using before. If you are bored with the current look and feel of your Android phone, try out one or more 3rd party launchers for a whole new look.
