In-depth video review of the reMarkable 10" e-Ink tablet that that takes notes and sketches like paper

I’ve been watching a lot of different reviews about note taking tablets over the last week. They are all very pricey at $450 to $600 but this particular one keeps surfacing to the top as the most paper like experience. Firstly the surface is not glass (like an iPad) so it has the textured feeling and friction more similar to paper, it has the contrast of paper (being eInk), and its stylus simulates a tilted sketching motion. The cherry on the top (at about 28 mins in) is if you use the brush type and keep the stylus pressed in one spot, the "ink" is absorbed by the "page" like an inkblot.

It’s not perfect though and although it also reads PDFs and the widely supported open ePub standard documents it does not have all the reader bells and whistles that a Kindle has. That said the 10" is better for magazines and manuals than a Kindle is, and it does a good enough job on the reading side. It is a bit heavy though for long stints of book reading due to its size.

It’s big claim to fame is its note taking abilities and sketching. I should hasten to add though that this is not for professional sketching as some features lack such as colour, smudging, very fine detail, etc.
