Good news for the sale of tech products in South Africa under Level 4 lockdown

South Africa has been under Level 5 lock down for the last month which prohibited everything apart from essential services – so no sales of tobacco products, no alcohol, no fast food, no online tech purchases, no walking or exercising off your own property, etc.

It has been quite extreme and I don’t know how those in a small apartment without Internet could survive without going out of their minds. We have been lucky to get online grocery deliveries but you needed a credit card and some retailers took 2 to 3 weeks to deliver (and then were still short on some items). Well done to Checkers though for actual 24-hour delivery and delivering 100% of what was ordered!

So ecommerce and tech sales is going to be really good news for me, which will become apparent as soon as my new order is delivered probably in mid-May.

The sale of ICT equipment will be allowed from Friday and ecommerce companies will be allowed to sell far more products.
