The default desktop environment for the Raspberry Pi OS is a good place to start when you first get your Raspberry Pi but there are lots of other choices available.
Note you may have to first install taskse1 if it is not present, with ‘sudo apt install tasksel’ but it was present already by default on my Pi. It’s a small letter ‘L’ and not a numeric one on the end.
