I actually still have this identical Sharp organizer and it powers up as well. Unfortunately I sold my Psion (which was a lot more advanced) but do have the two Nokia Communicators that followed it. The Nokia’s were a major breakthrough as for the first time actual cellular data was included in the device. The Sharp and Psion used PC link cables to sync to a computer. The original Nokia Communicator had the flip up antenna, and a better keyboard than the second Communicator.

I’ve yet to determine why exactly I gravitate to portable gadgets, but I can remember being obsessed with everything high-tech and pocketable since I was a kid. It started with obvious devices like the Game Boy which all of my friends had, but eventually included personal organizers: devices that tended to appeal more to corporate suits than 12 year olds.
