Something not covered was shaving soap such as Mitchell’s Wool Fat, Tabac, etc make. They last a lot longer than shaving cream, and provide even better glide, as the wet brush provides a bit of water as it is being lathered.
And it does not really take much time at all to prep with shaving, as the longest “wait” I have is waiting for the kettle to heat the water to 80 C. Apart from that it is about 30 seconds to get a bit of lather, and then just smear it on.
